Busia Governor declares vacancies: How to apply

By Peter Ochieng

New Busia County governor Paul Nyongesa Otuoma has declared vacancies for the position of County Executive Committee Members (CECM), about a week after being sworn in to serve as the border County’s second boss.

Otuoma was sworn in last Thursday, taking the mantle of leadership from Sospeter Odeke Ojaamong who served for two terms from 2013.

The governor is seeking to have the relevant foot soldiers to help him fulfil his mandate to the people of Busia. The 10 portfolios on offer are:

1. Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Agriculture

2. Infrastructure and Energy

3. Finance, ICT and Economic Planning

4. Health and Sanitation

5. Trade, Industry and Cooperatives

6. Public Service and Administration

7. Lands, Housing and Urban Development

8. Education and Vocational Training

9. Sports, Culture and Social Services

10. Water, Environment and Natural Services

The requirements include being a Kenyan, being in possession of a first degree from a recognized Kenyan University, not holding any other State or public office and with ability to work under pressure in order to meet strict deadlines.

Terms of service are temporary, while the salary is as prescribed by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC).

Qualified and interested applicants have until September 09, 2022 to submit their applications.

“Applicants should submit their applications together with copies of their detailed Curriculum Vitae, academic and professional certificates, testimonials, national identification card and any other supporting documents,” states the advert.

Application letters should be addressed to the County Secretary and Head of Public Service, the County Government of Busia.

Otuoma is up and running aiming to right the wrongs of his predecessor Ojaamong, whom various neutral observers have ranked among the worst performing governors since 2013.
