Condoms run out of stock in Naivasha as World Safari Rally championships continues

Naivasha, better known as Vasha seems to be getting overwhelmed by the high number of people streaming in for the World Safari Rally championships.
One of the indications that the popular town for vacations is getting more traffic than what it is used to accommodating, is reports that stock for condoms has run out.
This is barely a day since the start of the World Safari Rally championships.
The championships kicked off on Thursday, June 23, 2022, and will be going on until Sunday, June 26, 2022.
World Safari Rally championships is a major event and have attracted a huge number of people, all with different targets – from fans, sex workers, and businesspeople.
This upsurge of people has been attributed to the condom shortage now being experienced.
“We have managed to buy and distribute to our lovely Kenyans. The demand is very high as we are talking. The sex workers are busy,” notes Stanley Ngara, commonly known as the ‘King of Condom’.
Ngara has been instrumental in the distribution of condoms and sensitizing members of the public on safe sex.
And with the ongoing World Safari Rally championships, his target persons have increased.
“Most of the businesses are now working 24 hours. I have spoken to a hotel businessman and he says his sales for condoms are very high,” notes Ngara who creates awareness among members of the public on sexual reproductive health and rights, including HIV and AIDS.
With an upsurge of people attending the rally, it is a booming business for sex workers, most of who have abandoned Naivasha town streets for the championship site.
But with a shortage of free government condoms, Ngara fears rally lovers might end up being irresponsible.
“We are encouraging people that if you can buy condoms to protect yourself please do so,” he advised.
As the condom shortage continues to hit Vasha, Ngara has challenged the government to move with speed and ensure there are sufficient supplies accessible for locals.
Free condoms are usually available to members of the public in social places including bars and hotels.
