Kamene Goro has shocked many after she narrated her story as a housewife to her ex-husband with whom they lived together in Arusha, Tanzania. She made the revelations while presenting the Morning Kiss alongside Jalang’o on September 28, 2021.
Responding to the court ruling by Justice Teresiah Matheka to have housewives paid for staying in the house in case of divorce, Kamene said that they deserve a monthly salary.
Speaking in the Morning Kiss show ,the media personality said that it was not easy being a housewife.
“I used to be a housewife and here was my routine. My man was to get to work by 8-9 am so I would wake up by 7:00 am. I would pick out the clothes he would wear and iron them, after that, I would run the shower so that the water gets hot. Then set his skincare products in one place, since he had a skincare routine. I would then make the bed and set out his clothes on the bed. After that, I would go to the kitchen and give orders on what was to be prepared for breakfast.”
The celebrity revealed that her husband hated waking up to a dirty house therefore she had to ensure that everything was in order before her husband woke up.
She would then prepare breakfast and serve him, before proceeding to prepare and pack a snack for him to eat when he gets a break at work. As if that’s not enough, Kamene would prepare and take lunch to him everyday since he could not eat food prepared by someone else.
She would later on her way home after taking lunch to the husband pass through the supermarket or run other errands.
“I would ensure the garden is in order. He also loved green vegetables so I would go pick some from the shamba, bring them to the house helps and have them prepare,” she continued .Kamene would get two hours to relax or read a book in the afternoon before preparing her husband’s bag for the gym after work. “Being a housewife is like you are on the call to make your husbands life easier, “she added.
According to Kamene, as a house wife you have two goals per week; going to the salon and the supermarket. Her advice to housewives is that they should be paid an amount not less than 400 k.
” If you are a housewife do not take anything less than 400,”she concluded.
Justice Matheka stated that housewives should not say they don’t work since they provide services in the home that are otherwise outsourced and paid for.
She noted that is it is unfair to only rely on seen income and the mindset that one has to contribute money to the marriage to find value.
“It is easy for the spouse working away from home and sending money to lay claim to the whole property purchased and developed with that money by the spouse staying at home and taking care of the children and the family. That spouse will be heard to say that the other one was not employed so they contributed nothing.
“Raising children is a full-time job that families pay a person to do. Cooking and cleaning as well. Hence, for a woman in employment who has to balance childbearing and rearing this contribution must be considered,” the Judge stated.
