Homa Bay Town MP lists 10 issues he wants Ruto to address during his Nyanza tour

President William Ruto is this week set to make just his second visit to Homa Bay County within his first three months in office.
But unlike the maiden tour that saw him attend a church service in Homa Bay Town, the upcoming visit that begins on Friday will be more development-oriented.
And ahead of his visit, Homa Bay Town Member of Parliament Peter Kaluma has listed a number of issues he hopes the Head of State will address while in the county.
In a post on his verified Twitter handle on January 11, 2023, Kaluma, an ODM legislator further said Ruto is welcome to visit the county, largely perceived as a former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s stronghold.
He said the leaders will be available to receive him.
In the last visit to the county, none of the local leaders, including Governor Gladys Wanga was present.
“President @WilliamsRuto is set to visit Nyanza from this Friday. He’s welcome. Local leaders will be at hand to receive him and present the needs and concerns of the people,” Kaluma said in part of the tweet.
The 10 Issues he listed are :
- Infrastructure funding and land extension for Tom Mboya University.
- Kabunde Airstrip completionInfrastructure funding and land extension for Tom Mboya University;
- Water provision and sewerage system in Homa Bay Town;
- Homa Bay County Referral Hospital Elevation.
- HBTC TVET.
- Lake Victoria Ring Road.
- Roadworks in town and across the region.
- Homa Bay Irrigation project.
- Fish farming and blue economy.
- Electrification.
Kaluma however hit out at the media, claiming they had already politicized the President’s Nyanza tour.
“I hope this satisfies the journalists who have kept calling me over the matter. The Media should learn to focus on important things. The idea of seeking out politics in everything distracts from important business and unnecessarily polarizes the country,” he said.
While in Homa Bay, Ruto is expected to among others attend the homecoming ceremony of ICT Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo.
