Kabando Wa Kabando Ditches Azimio and Martha Karua’s Narc Kenya

By Michael M’mata
Former Mukurweini MP Kabando Wa Kabando has today, the 7th of February 2023, through his twitter account announced his decision to end his relationship with Martha Karua’s Narc Kenya party.
The former MP joined the party barely 1 year ago ahead of the August 2022 elections.
The former MP tweeted,
“As a matter of conscience and principle, I have instructed @ORPPKenya to deregister I, Hon. Kabando wa Kabando, from @narckenya. I believe in leadership teamwork and honesty.”
”I detest chicanery and corruption. I thank @MarthaKarua and wish her well in Azimio ventures.”

The former MP’s decision comes after a series of Rallies by the Azimio Coalition team calling into question the conduct of the August 2022 election.
It would seem he is not in agreement with the teams latest moves as he further tweeted,
“My family, confidants, allies, friends, and colleagues know of my tenacious support and trust in @MarthaKarua to compliment @RailaOdinga in our elusive quest rekindle a national rainbow to crash graft and impunity.
I regret we’ve lost it. Hopefully, we’ll reconnect better soon.”

Seemingly keen to make it clear that his move to leave the Azimio block did not mean that he had joined the rival Kenya Kwanza team, he further tweeted,
“I’ll continue to boldly & independently, or in league with like-minded souls, play my patriotic part to keep President Ruto’s increasingly rogue regime in check.
”Sadly, neither ODM nor NarcK are acting institutionally in this endeavour. Cultistic politics is bad for democracy.”

The series of tweets got mixed reactions with some in favor of the move while others criticized it. One notable reaction came from Constitutional lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi who replied, “Pole. This is normal in Kenyan politics.”
