The Kisumu County government is calling for entries for Lakeside City’s 2023 photo contest.

The contest is being run by the department of Trade, Tourism, Industry and Marketing, whose theme is to bring out the best of Kisumu with amazing photos, under a campaign dubbed ‘Kisumu My Pride.’

Farida Salim is the Chief Executive Committee Member (CECM) in charge of trade and tourism.

Information on the County’s website says Versatile Hub Africa Agency, which runs the Versatile School of Photography, is among the official partners, and will also be on the panel of judges to rate the images in terms of creativity, quality and storytelling.
“The photo contest is open to the public and will start from Thursday, March 2 to Friday, March 31, 2023. All contestants will be required to take photos capturing different categories and submit them as per provided guidelines.”

The contestants are will be in line to win various awards, if their photos find favour in the eyes of perhaps hard-to-convince judges.

“The County Government of Kisumu together with its partners will award various valuable prizes for the winners including creative scholarships, paid-up trips, and photography equipment among others.”

Contestants have to apply in relation to a host of categories listed by the County.

They are:

Blue and Green Economy

Tourism, Maritime and Wildlife

Healthcare

Hotels, Malls and Centres

City, Land, Lake

People

Public Space

Rural life/Night life

Those interested will to provide a set of information, including email address, age, name, phone number, gender, citizenship, county, province or region, and the Sub-county one sides from.

Kisumu has seven Sub-counties in the making of Muhoroni, Nyakach, Nyando, Kisumu East, Kisumu Central, Kisumu West and Seme.

The contest is however open to members of the public who are not necessarily residents of County 042.
