KNEC sets dates for 2022 KCPE, KCSE exams
By Peter Ochieng
The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) has announced dates for the 2022 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams.
According to the timetable released by the examination body, rehearsals for KCPE will be conducted on November 25, before candidates sit for the exams from November 28 to November 30, 2022, across the Country.
Rehearsals and sitting for the KCPE will go hand in hand with the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) exams, in the Country.
On the other hand, rehearsals for KCSE exams will be conducted on November 18, before candidates sit for the exam from November 21 to December 23, 2022.
As such, Teachers Service Commission (TSC) CEO Nancy Macharia has directed Sub-County Education directors to make sure centre managers, supervisors and invigilators who will be in charge of the exams are identified, nominated, vetted and deployed by October 18, 2022.
“Take note that the number of supervisors and invigilators should be adhered to especially during optional papers. The centre managers should ensure only the required number of supervisors and invigilators report each day or examinations and online attendance taken on daily basis,” said Macharia.
She added, “This will ensure teachers will not be idling in examination centres with no role to play.”
2022 will go down as the year candidates sat for KCSE and KCPE exams twice, at the beginning and end of the year, due to disruptions on the school calendar caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
This year’s exams will be administered as the task force formed by President William Ruto looks into ways of improving the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC).
