A 37-year-old man in Mbita sub-county is in police custody in connection with the death of his 48 year old lover, hours after they were seen making love in a thicket.
The two love birds were on Sunday night spotted in a thicket in Got Rateng village, Lambwe East location making love before the body of Milka Odhiambo was found the following day.
Earlier, the two were seen drinking at a local bar before boarding a motorbike at dusk, but alighted a few meters away from their homes to spend quality time in the bush together.
The area Chief Benard Ouma confirmed that the deceased’s body was found partly buried in another person’s homestead on Monday morning.
“This morning at 6.10 am an elder from Got Rateng gave me a call saying they have found a dead body of a woman. When I rushed there I realized that the deceased was the person that I knew very well,” Ouma noted.
Ouma said the two were accustomed to having sex by the roadside after taking alcohol together.
“The two had been spotted severally in a thicket adjacent to a village having sex .I had warned them against the behaviour but they did not pay heed,” Ouma said.
It was reported that after the act they were not seen until Monday morning when Milka’s lifeless body was discovered but without any physical injuries.
He said that the suspect had admitted to making love to the deceased shortly before she died.
The chief suspected that the woman’s body was moved by the suspect to the homestead with the intention of concealing the truth.
The suspect was arrested and taken to Kipasi police station awaiting to be arraigned in court while the body was moved to Homa Bay County Referral hospital mortuary for post mortem.
