A man was yesterday arraigned before a Loitoktok law court for defiling his 3- year- old granddaughter.
George Kuria Njoroge who appeared before Principal Magistrate Judicaster Nthuku is charged with the offence which he allegedly committed on December 24, 2022 at Kangundo village in Loitoktok Sub County.
The victim’s grandmother, Naomi Wairimu told the court how on the material day went to market and left the girl behind with the grandfather.
Unfortunately it rained and she got home late at around 7 pm only to find the infant sleeping on the couch and she took her to bed.
The following day she noticed the girl seemed unhealthy as she could hardly eat.
She insisted to know what was wrong and the girl confessed that the accused had touched her private parts and she was having difficulties going for short call.
Wairimu was shocked and confronted the accused but he became violent and even picked a panga ready to slash her. Wairimu says the suspect also undressed before his daughters as if he had run out of mind.
Soon after she says she reported the matter at Kangundo Police station before taking the child to nearby health center for medical examination where the doctor confirmed that her private parts had been badly damaged.
The accused was later arrested and escorted to police station where he was charged with the offence. He is out on bail pending hearing and conclusion of the case.
The case was adjourned for further hearing on 27th March 2023.
