Mechanic in court for flouting traffic rules

A mechanic has been arraigned at Loitoktok law court for flouting traffic rules leading to the death of a pedestrian.

Vincent Odhiambo, who appeared before Senior Principal Magistrate Esther Kimilu is charged with over speeding and driving without a valid driving license along Loitoktok- Emali Road near Kimana town on July 15, 2023.

The accused who was driving a vehicle left under his care by a friend, Amos Njiru knocked down a pedestrian while crossing the road killing him on the spot.

While testifying before the court, Meshack Ouma, a traffic police officer attached at Loitoktok police station said they were alerted of the accident and rushed to the scene of crime and confirmed the incident.

The accused who after causing the accident returned the vehicle to the premises of Njiru and could not answer the phone when contacted had been spotted walking along the road towards Kimana and was arrested and escorted to Loitoktok police station where he was charged with the offence. meanwhile the body of the deceased was taken to Loitoktok hospital mortuary.

In court the accused had denied the allegations and the matter was set for further hearing on April 8.
