Cheptil Boys are the winners of this year’s edition of the boys volleyball, East African School Games in Arusha, after defeating holders Stahizza of Uganda 3-1 in the final, in Arusha, Tanzania on Friday.

The Kenyans turned tables on the Ugandans after losing the first set 25-21.

They came up top in the subsequent sets, winning 25-20, 25-23 and 25-23 to hold hands on the title they last won in 2012, when the games were held in Bujumbura, Burundi.

The girls volleyball final was a purely Kenyan affair, as Kwanthanze beat Kesogon Mixed Secondary School, by three sets to nil.

This year’s title is Kwanthanze’s 4th on the trot and 6th overally.

In football, Kenyan champions Wiyeta lost 2-1 to St. Noah of Uganda in the girls football final.

Wiyeta, the five-time regional champions had defeated Noah 3-1 in their opening match of Pool ‘A’, but they had no gas left to finish off the same opponents when it mattered most, in the final.

In the boys football final, Uganda’s Kibuli carried the day after beating debutants, Nairobi’s Highway 2-0.

This year’s winners will represent the Federation of East Africa Secondary School Sports Federation (FEASSSA) in next year’s International School Sport Federation (ISF) World School Football Championship to be held in Morocco.
