The Ministry of Education (MoE) in partnership with technology companies is exploring modalities to support teachers to deliver the schools’ curriculum effectively.
Speaking when he received the President of Seiko Epson, Yasunori Ogawa, in his office, Principal Secretary (PS) for Basic Education Belio Kipsang, hinted that the Ministry could work with technology companies in teaching and learning at the school level.
The PS said the company can assist to reduce teachers’ shortage in the country by deploying technology in smart classrooms.
He reckoned that the technology could enable a limited number of teachers to teach thousands of learners across several schools.
“This is an opportunity for partnership where we can use technology in resource sharing,” stated Dr. Kipsang.
On his part, the EPSON Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mr. Yasunori Ogawa revealed that their company is capable of connecting low energy ICT gadgets to create educational technology that can be beneficial to developing countries in Africa.
“We are in Africa and wish to invest in Africa, we encompass a philosophy for eliminating waste and increasing precision,” asserted Ogawa.
The CEO, who is also the president of the Middle East based company, maintained that their strong history in electronic technology can be tapped to boost education in Africa.
