The Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in collaboration with other stakeholders, has launched a program aimed at targeting small and medium enterprises nationwide.

The program, dubbed Inua Biashara is an upcoming reality TV show that is designed to take small businesses a notch higher by equipping them with the necessary tools, resources, and knowledge to thrive in today’s competitive landscape.

During the launch of the program at Zetech University Technology Park Mang’u Campus, Professor Njenga Munene, Zetech University Vice Chancellor and Chair to the consortium, said the Inua Biashara program is a platform that does not just empower the individual business, but a program that will level the playing field by empowering SMEs.

“Our main area of interest by launching this program is to ensure that small businesses can grow to a level where people can survive on them, and they are able to meet their financial obligation and Zetech University will be at the forefront to offer the necessary financial literacy.” said Munene.

Dan Miano from Kenya National Chambers of Commerce and Industry added that the program will support small businesses by providing holistic assistance in finance, financial literacy, market linkages, marketing strategies, networking opportunities, and establishing connections with government institutions.

“We will be giving solutions to entrepreneurs on whatever kind of challenges they are having, so it is a holistic program which is tailored towards empowering upcoming entrepreneurs and our target is Micro and Small businesses,” said Miano

The program is said to be a consortium partnership of eight organisations which include; Zetech University, Safaricom PLC, KCB Bank, Kenya National Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Homebody PLC, Umbrella TV Dynamic Marketing Solutions Co. Ltd., and Yali Kenya.

Kenya has an estimated 1.5 million formally registered MSMEs and over 5 million informal MSMEs. They collectively generate 30 percent of the GDP. Kenyan MSMEs operate in all sectors of the economy, with large concentrations in wholesale and retail trade, manufacturing, and food services.

The Inua Biashara program is set to be aired on local TV stations countrywide on Sundays from 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm on Umbrella TV, Homeboyz TV, NTV, YouTube and other interested stations. The show officially kicks off on TV on the 28th of April 2024. Courtesy; KNA
