Raila Odinga’s sweet birthday message to his wife Ida

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has shared a sweet birthday message to his wife Ida Betty.
Ida turns 72 today, Wednesday, August 24, 2022, and Raila took to his official social media pages to celebrate her better half’s big day.
In sharing the birthday message, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader described Ida as the best thing that ever happened to him.
He also credited the success of his family to her.
“On each of your birthdays like today, I reflect on how you are by far the best thing that ever happened to me. Your strength, resilience, wisdom, and prayers have brought our family this far. Happy Birthday my dear Ida Betty,” Raila Odinga posted on his Facebook page.
The post was accompanied by a photo of the two during their wedding day.
Raila and Ida got married on September 1, 1973, and have four children – Winnie, Rosemary, Raila Odinga Junior and the eldest son Fidel Odinga who died in 2015.
Ida Anyango Oyoo was born on August 24, 1950, and is described by many as a businesswoman, activist and educator.
She once worked as a teacher for more than 20 after graduating with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Nairobi in 1973.
Ida Odinga was at Kenya High School, and her students included the late Governor of Bomet County, Joyce Laboso.
As she celebrates her birthday, a number of politicians have also wished her well. One of them is Nairobi County Woman Member of Parliament-elect Esther Passaris.
“Happy birthday Mama. I know you’re probably going through a lot right now, but I want you to know that God is in control and everything will be okay. Continue staying strong and being the support that you’ve always been to Baba. The country is behind you. God bless,” Passaris tweeted.
Homa Bay Govenror-elect Gladys Wanga has also shared her birthday message with Ida.
In a tweet, Wanga said, “In you, I found the perfect example and role model. I’m glad that you mentored and supported me right from the start of my political career. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Happy Birthday, Min Piny, Your excellency Mama @IdaOdinga. May God continue to fill your cup.”
