I will win in round one – Ruto vows

Deputy President William Ruto has dismissed opinion polls indicating that ODM Leader Raila Odinga is ahead of him in the presidential race.

Addressing members of the public during a rally in Embakasi South on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, DP Ruto termed the opinion polls as fake, adding that they are part of a scheme to rig the August 9 general elections. He, however, exuded confidence stating that he has the numbers to defeat Odinga in the polls.

“They have tried all means. All that is left is the use of fake opinion polls and spread of propaganda that they shall steal my votes. Do I look like someone they can steal from?” He posed.

The second in command noted that his faction won most of the by-elections held in various parts of the country since 2017, since Kenyans are tired of the the Odinga led team.

“We will also win in August and there’s nothing they will do about it. They will not destroy the railway or swear themselves in since Kenya will move forward. This shall be the hustlers’ government,” he said.

DP Ruto proceeded to address youth unemployment, noting that if elected head of state, his government would set aside a Ksh100 billion to address the matter.

According to the second in command, the funds would be channel towards the priority sectors of agro processing, housing, value addition and manufacturing.

A recent poll by Infotrack indicated that Odinga is the most preferred presidential candidate at 42 per cent while DP Ruto comes second with 38 per cent.
