All the people who were residing in a multi-storey building within Uthiru area along Naivasha road have been accounted for.
A multi-agency team responded to the incident on Tuesday night.
In a latest update by the Kenya Red Cross Society, one female person was rescued early on Wednesday.She has since been taken to hospital. This is in addition to 10 others that were rescued at night from the building which caved in.
“Update: One female, who was rescued at the onset of the incident, was taken to the hospital by well-wishers,” Kenya Red Cross said in part of the statement.
“Ten others were treated at the scene by the Red Cross Action team. As of now, all tenants have been accounted for,” it added.
In an earlier update, the humanitarian agency said the 10 rescued had minor injuries.
Cause of the collapse of the building said to be three-storied is yet to be identified.
But is is suspected to be due to the ongoing heavy rains that have wreaked havoc nationally.
“Ten people with minor injuries have been attended to at the scene by the Red Cross Action Team,” Kenya Red Cross Society had said on Tuesday night.
The multi i-agency team that responded to the incident comprised the Kenya Red Cross, Nairobi County Fire Brigade and the National Police Service (NPS).
Nairobi is among counties that have been largely affected by the ongoing flood situation.
President William during a tour to Mathare area said the government would offer support to all those affected.
“Those displaced because of their safety will have alternative and decent place to stay. Each family will get Sh10,000 to facilitate this cause,” said the President.
Official government statistics indicate that 238 people have died so far due to floods across the country.174 others have been injured while at least 42,526 households have been displaced, affecting approximately 212,630 people.
