Bomet-based football club APS Bomet has clinched a coveted spot in the National Super League (NSL) after a stellar performance throughout the season, sealing their dominance in Division One Zone B with one game still to spare.

Their triumph was confirmed in a thrilling encounter against Green Commandos, where APS Bomet emerged victorious with a narrow 1-0 win at Kakamega High School grounds last Sunday.

The hard-fought victory not only secured the team the Division One Zone B title for the 2023/24 season but also earned them a ticket to the highly competitive NSL.

The winning goal came courtesy of APS defender Dominic Kirui, who expertly headed home a well-taken free-kick just yards from the box, igniting jubilant celebrations among the team’s technical bench and supporters.

Despite attempts by Green Commandos to alter the momentum of the game by bolstering their defence, APS Bomet remained relentless in their pursuit of further goals.

The final whistle from the centre referee sparked scenes of jubilation among traveling fans, as APS Bomet administrators and supporters alike rejoiced at the team’s achievement.

Tears of joy flowed freely as Team CEO Chief Inspector Rose Chemutai joined in the celebrations, expressing her delight at seeing the team’s hard work and discipline culminate in such success.

Chemutai commended the players for their exemplary conduct on the pitch throughout the season, emphasising that their discipline played a crucial role in securing promotion to the NSL.

Looking ahead, Chemutai reiterated the club’s ambition to compete in the Kenya Premier League, stressing their determination to achieve this goal.

She dismissed doubts surrounding the team’s capabilities, emphasising their unwavering focus on reaching the pinnacle of Kenyan football.

Bomet Central Sub-County AP Commandant Stephen Musyoka echoed Chemutai’s sentiments, highlighting the team’s commitment to not only promoting community policing but also inspiring youth with football talent.

Musyoka emphasised the team’s role as a beacon of hope and an example of excellence for aspiring young players.

With one final match remaining against MOFA FC, APS Bomet aims to cap off their remarkable season with another victory.

Leading the league standings with 59 points, they face stiff competition from MOFA FC, who trail closely behind with 54 points.

A win for MOFA FC could secure them a spot in the promotion playoffs, intensifying the stakes for APS Bomet in their quest for championship glory and NSL promotion.

This achievement comes after a turbulent period for APS Bomet, marked by controversy and setbacks following their suspension from the FKF National Super League 2022/2023 season.

Despite facing adversity, APS Bomet’s resilience and determination have propelled them to the brink of success, showcasing their unwavering commitment to excellence in Kenyan football.
