Former TV news anchor Betty Kyallo has addressed reports of her salon being put up for auction.
Reports of the the media personality’s Flair by Betty salon being put up for auction over rent arrears, hit headlines on Monday morning.
Through a public notice published in the local dailies, Keysian Auctioneers indicated that items on the premises will be sold by public auction on Wednesday, April 17, 2024.
The case was presented by the landlord over pending rent arrears. In response, the business lady in an Instagram post blamed her woes to the landlord’s unwillingness to reduce rent, coupled with difficult business environment.
“Obviously, running a business in Kenya has become so difficult. Landlords don’t want to reduce rent and it becomes a huge burden on businesses that are struggling because of the economic slowdown,” she wrote.
“I let it go,” the flamboyant ex KTN and K24 news anchor added.
She said letting the salon go will accord her better sleep. “I am happier. I sleep better. My space of mind is more important than a name. I am good.”
Betty added that the salon will be back, at a certain point.
“Thanks for the calls and texts but mimi niko sawa (I am okay). Many Kenyans are going through the most in business. Many people have closed businesses in this country. I let it go… but Flair will be back. Just a matter of time.”
She concluded by stating that after two months of expansion, they reopen Aftershave by Flair, which specifically target male clients.
The auction, will take place at Leakey’s Storage Limited along Lunga-Lunga road in Nairobi.
Items set to be auctioned are; 3 dismantled well shelves, a massage bed stand, 2 massage beds, a small serve rack, a glass shelf, 4 big mirrors, towel warmers and dressing tables.
Others are 2 PCs sink stands, estia heater, midea heater, cushioned pink stool, 3 Pcs down seats, coat hanger, Sony TV, Vitron TV and rantons one door fridge, amongst others.
