Bomet Governor Prof Hillary Barchok has conveyed his condolences to the family of the late Chief if Defense Forces General Francis Ogolla.
Prof Barchok said he joined president William Ruto in mourning the deceased and nine other Kenya Defense Forces Officers who perished in a helicopter crash in Elgeiyo Marakwet County Thursday afternoon.
He said it was saddening to loose dedicated officers who served to protect the territory of this great republic.
In his demise, he said, Kenya has lost a dedicated military top commander who has served the country in different ranks for over 40 years, earning the President’s trust that he appointed him to be the Chief of Defense Forces on 28th April, 2023.
“It is our prayer that the good Lord gives the families of the ten fallen soldiers the fortitude to bear the loss of their loves ones, ” he said.
“We also wish the two survivors a speedy recovery in the hospitals they were rushed to.”
Bomet Senator Hillary Sigei said it was a sad moment for the Kenya Defense Forces, the grieving families and the country following the deaths.
” May the souls of Chief of Defense Forces General Francis Ogolla and his team of military personnel rest in eternal peace, ” he said.
Chepalungu Member of Parliament Victor Koech Mandazi said ” I wish to express my message of condolences to the families and friends of the Chief of Defense Forces General Francis Ogolla and his officers who died in Kenya Defense Forces aircraft accident earlier yesterday evening.”
” In the same breath, I wish the two soldiers who were injured in the tragic accident a quick recovery ”
