The Kenya Red Cross team has dispatched its action team following reports of a landslide in Kimende area in Kiambu County.
According to an update on its social media pages, several people are believed to be trapped in their houses following the incident.
Details of the landslide remain scanty.It is believed they are as a result of the ongoing heavy rainfall pounding various parts of the country.
“A landslide has occurred in the Kimende Escarpments of Kiambu County. Several people are believed to be trapped,” said the Kenya Red Cross.
“The Red Cross Action Team is en route to the scene,” it added.
The landside comes at a time the government has been evicting people living within riparian areas.
There has also been calls for locals living in dangerous areas to move to safer grounds.It is only about a month ago that over 50 people died after stormwater pushed through a blocked tunnel in Mai Mahiu area.
Nationally, latest statics from the Government indicated that 289 have died as a result of floods and thousands of others left homeless.More to follow…
