Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) Ezekiel Machogu has urged the national and county governments to work together during the implementation of the Fourth Medium Term Plan (MTP IV) to guarantee the achievement of Vision 2030.

Speaking during the dissemination of the MTP IV at the Kenya Institute of Highways & Building Technology – Kisii on the outskirts of Kisii town, CS Machogu said the development priorities set for the next five years can only be achieved through the collaboration of both governments.

“At the national level, we must align our plan with the county governments such that from the national government, we deliver what is expected of us and the counties also fulfill what is expected of them,” he noted.

The Cabinet Secretary affirmed the Kenya Kwanza administration is keen on the participation of all stakeholders in the development plan adding that its success will entirely depend on the contribution of all Kenyans.

He called on the stakeholders to familiarize themselves with the contents of the Medium-Term Plan IV as well as the County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP) so that they can own and sustain the development priorities.

Machogu outlined the development pillars as outlined in Vision 2030 including the social, economic and political pillars.

Under the social pillar, the CS said the government is committed to advancing education, health and social protection matters by ensuring that citizens acquire the necessary knowledge to be able to participate in socio -economic activities in the country.

Further, Machogu said the government is working towards expanding the country’s economy that currently stands at 5.6 percent to a double digit through industrialization.

Some of the priority projects contained in the Fourth Medium Term Plan for Kisii County include the establishment of Primary Healthcare Networks, completion of the comprehensive cancer management centres, Acquaculture Business Development Programme, construction of Ogembo market and the construction of 60 housing units at Kisii Main Prison among others.

The Kenyan Vision 2030 has guided the development planning since 2008 and the Fourth MTP is the last five-year Medium-Term Plan, and will transition the country to the next long-term development blueprint.
