The Cabinet Secretary for Education Dr. Ezekiel Machogu has sent a message of condolence to the family, friends and the whole nation following the death of the Chief of Defense Forces Gen. Francis Omondi Ogolla and nine other military officers in an air crash that occurred in Elgeyo Marakwet County Thursday.
The nine military officers who perished in the crash were Brigadier Swaleh Saidi, Col. Duncan Keittany, Lt. Col. David Sawe, Major George Magondu, Capt Sora Mohamed, Capt. Hillary Litali, SSgt. John Kinyua Mureithi, Sgt. Cliphonce Omondi and Sgt. Rose Nyawira.
In a message on his own behalf, and the entire Education Ministry fraternity the CS expressed their deepest sympathies and condolences saying they were saddened by their demise.
Gen. Ogolla and his team were on an official assignment to inspect the ongoing renovation works in various schools namely Chesitet Primary School, Cheptulel Boys High School, Chepoton Primary School, Ksaa Primary School and.
Sablimoi Primary School.As the country mourns General Ogolla and colleagues, Dr. Machogu urged communities in the North Rift region to embrace peace and end their hostilities to allow a return to normal school operations in honour of the fallen giants.
“We wish the two military personnel, who are currently undergoing medical attention, a quick recovery,” he said.
