Kisumu Deputy Governor Mathews Owili has declared that he would be elected the next governor of Kisumu in the 2027 general elections giving Nyakach sub county where he hails from an opportunity to produce a governor.

He made the remarks while addressing ODM party delegates at Holo in Kisumu, further stating that “There is no wish I have presented before God that he has ever denied me and I have pleaded with him that come 2027, he will intercede so that Owili ascends to the throne of Kisumu governor,” he asserted.

Owili at the same time called on the residents of Kisumu to enlist as ODM party members in large numbers during the ongoing party membership drives.

Speaking at Urydu primary school where confusion nearly marred the proceeding after Nyakach MP Joshua Aduma addressed the crowd and left, driving away with him a huge part of the crowd.

Owili however steadfastly pleaded with the locals to enlist as ODM members which he noted is the party that has made milestones in bringing change in the country.

Kisumu ODM chairman Paul Akeyo noted that the party has opened a branch office in Nyakach in a bid to bring party services closer to the people.

“We have launched a sub county office at Pap Onditi that has now brought ODM party services closer to the people,” he said.

Nyakach Central MCA Vincent Obuya told the residents that the new office was not a personal property but an office where all party members were welcomed.

He further appealed to the locals to ensure they register as ODM members during the ongoing drives.

“I took the responsibility of paying rent for our local ODM offices and I will do it for the next one year to ensure we meet our target and popularize the party in the region,” pointed Obuya.
