In a landmark ruling that has sent shockwaves through Eldoret, the High Court has found a 29-year-old woman and her accomplice guilty of a heinous murder.

Melisa Muhinda, a mother of two, and Ekiru Amatuka, a boda boda rider, were convicted for the murder of Geofrey Matenje, which took place on October 6, 2018, in the Kamukunji area of Eldoret town.

The presiding judge, Reuben Nyakundi, announced the conviction on Monday, stating that the evidence presented by the prosecution was conclusive.

The court heard how Matenje’s life was brutally cut short and his body callously concealed in a sack.

Muhinda, a mother of two, and her co-accused, Amatuka, now face the full weight of the law as they await sentencing.

The verdict brings a measure of closure to a case that has not only devastated a family but also raised serious concerns about safety and crime in the community.

The Eldoret High Court’s decision underscores the judiciary’s commitment to ensuring justice prevails, even in cases that shock the conscience of the public.

As the town of Eldoret comes to terms with the reality of this tragedy, many hope this ruling will serve as a deterrent to such heinous crimes in the future.
