The fund’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO)George Gathenya, through a press invite to KNA and Nyanza Regional Commissioner Flora Mworoa, stated that the NFDK fund is an endowment fund established under the Perpetual Succession Act Cap 164 of the laws of Kenya with focus on empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (PWD) as a key strategy.
Gathenya said the approach has facilitated the social and economic empowerment of PWDs in Kenya since October 4th 1980.
He explained that this has greatly helped to increase the self-reliance of the PWDs and their primary caregivers.
“This is delivered through support to individual PWDs with either assistive devices or vocational tools of trade “, he explained.
He revealed that tomorrow donations will target beneficiaries drawn from Kisumu Central and West sub-counties.
The fund officials will visit all eight regions and do the same for other PWDs and a total of ksh 73,000,000 worth of donations will go to individuals in the form of mobility aids, rehabilitative equipment and tools of trade countrywide.
The presentation of the rest of the resources shall be done by the funds’ personnel at the respective sub-County offices in liaison with National Government Administration Officers NGAO after Friday’s formal release at Nyanza Regional Headquarters.
