Liverpool will face Italian side Atalanta in the Europa League quarter-finals draw that was released on Friday afternoon.
The reds will be seeking a title quadruple as their quest for the premier league and FA cup are still strong and alive while they recently won the League cup against Chelsea.
Meanwhile, while Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen will take on London – based west Ham United in the quarter final clash. The Hammers will be facing a tough test against Luverkusen who have gone 37 games Unbeaten in all competitions innthe the current season winning 32 matches while only drawing five times.
Nevertheless,Luverkusen’s manager Alonso doesn’t believe their red-hot form is enough to stop Klopp’s Liverpool from winning the Europa league. According to Alonso, Liverpool are definitely the favorites of the tournament. “For me it’s clear, I really see Liverpool as the favourites to win the Europa League”Xabi Alonso ahead of UEL draw.
Alonso is one of the favourites to take over from Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool as the German manager will be parting ways with the club after a sterling 8 years.
Alonso’s trip to West Ham could see the Spanish manager face his former club, Liverpool, in the final if they are both successful.
In other draw results, Last season’s finalists Roma take on AC Milan in an all-Italian quarter-final, with Benfica up against Marseille in the other tie.
Liverpool will meet Benfica or Marseille in the semi-final should they progress, while West Ham could play AC Milan or Roma.
The first legs of the quarter-final ties will be played on Thursday April 11 with the return fixtures on Thursday April 18. The semi-finals will start on Thursday May 2 with the second legs on Thursday May 9. The final is on Wednesday May 22 in Dublin.
