Female Drug Peddlers Nubbed With Cocaine Worth Nearly Half a Million Shillings

In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking in the coastal city of Mombasa, two women have been arrested with crack cocaine valued at Ksh. 495,000.

The operation was carried out by the Anti-Narcotics Unit officers in the Kisauni, Utange area following a tip-off.The suspects, Amina Musa Chirunga and Saumu Ali Khamis, were apprehended after police cordoned off their house.

During the search, officers discovered sachets of crack cocaine, commonly referred to as “nose candy,” with an estimated street value of nearly half a million shillings.

This arrest underscores the ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to combat the rampant drug trafficking activities along the coastal region.

The police, acting on credible intelligence, swiftly moved to apprehend the suspects and seize the illegal narcotics.

The women are scheduled to be arraigned in court on Monday, where they will face charges related to drug trafficking.

This operation is part of a broader initiative by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to curb the distribution and consumption of illegal drugs in the region.

The DCI continues to urge members of the public to report any suspicious activities to help in the fight against drug trafficking.

The successful operation in Mombasa serves as a reminder of the critical role that community cooperation plays in ensuring a drug-free society.
