A middle aged woman has today been arrested at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport while she attempted to traffick 57 pellets of Cocaine to Madagascar.
Apoko Damaris Adhiambo, 32, was flagged down at terminal A1’s central screening area at JKIA as she checked in to board Kenya Airways KQ 256 flight to Antananarivo, Madagascar.
A body scanner at the checkpoint revealed suspicious items concealed around her privates, triggering a quick search by Anti – narcotic police who discovered over 600g of cocaine.
Upon interrogating, Apoko led the detectives to a Ugandan international,Harriet Asaba who is said to have hired her for the illegal assignment.
Asaba was whisked out at his home in Nairobi leading the Anti – Narcotic detectives to three other suspects Nangonzi Shirah (a Ugandan national), Esther Wanjiru, 24 and Sophia Kathambi aged 24 were busted.
The operation saw another 33 pellets of cocaine weighing 396 grams, found after intensive search.
The arraignment and prosecution of the five suspects is being processed while the Anti – Narcotics is working with the Interpol to track down the recepients of the narcotics in Antananarivo.
