Government embarks on revitalizing state agencies and regulatory authorities

The government has committed to revamp its state – owned agencies including regulatory authorities and parastatals.

Prime Cabinet Secretary & Foreign & Diaspora Affairs CS Musalia Mudavadi today inaugurated a two-day conference under the overarching theme: Regulatory Authorities and Agencies (RAA) as Critical Agents in the Frontline of Achieving the Administration’s Promise of Premier Service Delivery to Kenyans, aimed at exploring pathways to revitalized government agencies while considering emerging issues.

The conference brought together, Principal Secretaries including PS of Service delivery Felix Koskei including Chairpersons and Chief Executive Officers at the Kenya School of Government, Mombasa.

Also present was the Governor, Abdullswamad Sheriff Nassir.

The insightful, engaging, and interactive first session at the ongoing Regulatory Authorities & Agencies( RAA) conference featured selected discussants drawn from the CEOs and Director Generals of NEMA, EPRA, KEPHIS, KNRA, KEBS, NCA, NTSA, NACADA, AFA, and PSRA.

The primary objective of the conference is to enhance the visibility and performance of these agencies to drive economic development.

The conference will also focus on strategizing ways to streamline regulations and optimize agency functions to promote economic growth and improve efficiency.

“The regulatory framework in any nation is vital for economic growth, social harmony, and environmental sustainability. Regulatory Authorities and Agencies are key in ensuring adherence, driving innovation, and protecting all stakeholders” Prime CS Mudavadi said.

Through the conference, the government will also diffuse into discussions on boosting regulatory capabilities to combat corruption, reduce waste, and enhance service delivery in the backdrop of the government’s plan to privatize loss-making state agencies.
