Governor Jeremiah Lomorukai has rubbished allegations that he had been arrested.

Addressing the press in Lodwar on Thursday, Lomorukai termed as misleading reports that he had been apprehended.

The governor said he had travelled to a foreign country when the rumours started spreading.

“I received calls from many people asking of my whereabouts. The reports that I have been arrested at Kawalase in Lodwar are false,” he said. He blamed a senior politician in the county for being behind the rumours but fell short of naming him.

He dared the politician for another political contest in 2027 and vowed to beat him with an even larger margin than in 2022.

In 2022, Governor Lomorukai contested for the gubernatorial seat against John Munyes of Jubilee Party and John Lodepe of UDA.

He emerged victorious after securing 66,631. Munyes secured 41,866 while Lodepe of UDA managed 33,639 votes. Joseph Atol of Mabadiliko party managed 1,352 votes.

Regarding allegations that he has not initiated development projects in the county, the governor said 173 projects across the county were in various stages of completion.

“On April 4, I will launch a tarmac road in Lodwar town that will pass by Lodwar lodge for the first time,” said Lomorukai.

He said his administration had increased the county bursary fund from Sh384 million to Sh534 million to ensure needy students benefit from the kitty. He added that the county had for the first time also awarded full scholarships to students.

He also denied micromanaging the County Assembly adding that the county executive committee members and other executive staff had instructions to cooperate with the assembly and be accountable.

“The County Assembly is headed by a very able Speaker and MCAs who ensure that CECs are accountable. The CECs who do not perform will be sacked,” said Lomorukai.

At the same time, the governor announced that the resource mobilization directorate had been moved from the office of the deputy governor to his office.
