President William Ruto on Thursday left attendees of the National Prayer Breakfast in stitches after admitting that the men’s conference had summoned him.
Ruto, who was recently in the United States of America for a State Visit, jokingly said the men were unhappy with his show of holding hands with his wife.
He noted that he was willing and ready to honour the summons.
“It is true that I have been summoned by the men’s conference…and I will go and answer,” the Head of State said amid laughter from the congregation.
He was responding to concerns that Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua raised after his love show in the US.
“”Now, our wives want us to hold their hands. My wife Dorcas demands that I hold her hand everywhere we go,” DP Gachagua jokingly said.
However, he was quit to note that a similar show was nowhere to be seen from the Head of State back at home.
“I saw you walking into the premises and Rachel Ruto was behind you trying to catch up,” he noted.
During the State Visit, Ruto and his wife – Rachael Ruto – were captured on numerous occasions holding hands.
This race show was first seen as they alighted at the Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport for the start of their week-long visit.
They were captured on several occasions during the US visit.
The gesture left many puzzled as the President had not been seen holding hands with his wife while in Kenya, or even during visits to African countries.
During the visit, Ruto was accompanied by three of his daughters, except Charlene whom Kenyans questioned his whereabouts.
