Loitoktok Sub County, Teachers Service Commission (TSC), Director Fredrick Chimoyi has called upon Junior School teachers to fast-track integration of ICT in their teaching.
During a four-day JSS workshop at AIC Girls, Loitoktok, Chimoyi highlighted the importance of enhancing use of ICT, not only to have effective teaching, but also equip their learners with ICT skills.
He urged the teachers to familiarize themselves with ICT tools such virtual learning, digital cameras, smartphones among others to enhance their teaching.
“Prepare ICT integrated lessons using resources from internet, social media, or own created content to enhance learning of your pupils,” he added.
The Director further advised the teachers on accessing various learning resource materials from Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development(KICD) Open Education Resource.
He also encouraged teachers to embrace remote teaching, especially when the learners are on holidays or when normal schools’ programs have been interrupted for instance as it happened recently due to floods.
Loitoktok Sub County Director of Education, Peter Bitah urged the teachers to appreciate Junior School is with us to stay and should not devalue themselves.
He urged them to embrace the new changes and be committed to refreshing themselves through training.
Bitah said the purpose of the retooling is to help them remain relevant in the market owing to the facts that there are always changing trends in teaching and learning.
He highlighted the importance of equipping themselves with necessary knowledge for junior school learning through attending training, mentorship as well as through experience.
The four days’ workshop has drawn teachers for grade 7 and grade 8 across the sub county.
