Kanduyi Stadium set for uplift to international standards

Masinde Muliro Stadium in Kanduyi, Bungoma County has been earmarked for completion to international standards.

The Cabinet Secretary Ministry of Youth Affairs, Sports and the Arts Ababu Namwamba said that the stadium which has been prepared to host this year’s Madaraka day on June will be completed to prepare it to host international sports events.

The C.S who was speaking when he inspected the stadium today said that the arena has a capacity of 10,000 terrace sitting and 5000 VIP at the main lounge.

He said that most of the works at the stadium had been accelerated for Madaraka day but that after the celebrations construction of the other facilities would continue.

The C.S pointed out that the playing surface ground would be made of the right turf, to replace the current one to meet international standards.

He said that Nyayo and Kasarani stadia in Nairobi were now undergoing renovations and would be opened for use by the end of the year.

This year’s Madaraka day celebrations, on June 1 will be held at Masinde Muliro stadium, being the first time for Bungoma County to host the event.
