Moments are tense in Baringo County, after a bus belonging to Kapsabet Boys High School was involved in an accident at Patkawanin area, along the Marigat-Kabarnet road.
The bus was reportedly ferrying form two students for an academic trip.
Kapsabet Boys High School Chief Principal Kipchumba Maiyo confirmed the accident.
“The information reaching our school has it that one of our school bus which was ferrying form 2E and 2C Geography students to Baringo got involved in an accident and we are following up on the matter,” he said in a note to parents.
“The students are safe and some with minor injuries. Let us bear with the situation as we manage it,” he added.
Baringo County Police Commander Julius Kiragu, said a team has been dispatched to the accident scene.
61 students and a teacher were on board at the time of the accident. They left school in Nandi County at 8am, before the accident occurred at 2pm.
Rescue operations are currently underway.
