Kericho County Collaborates with Guru Nanak Well-Wishers to Implement Projects

A Kericho-based non-profit organization Guru Nanak Niksham Sewak Jatha (GNNSJ) has officially partnered with the Kericho County government in departmental programs that will tremendously benefit the residents.

During the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the County government premises, the parties agreed to jointly establish a framework of mutual collaborative partnership in upgrading and equipping medical facilities including the establishment of a Gender-Based-Violence Recovery Centre.

The well-wishers also agreed to partner in the promotion of sports for both genders including safari rally competitions among other sporting activities that will eventually promote physical and mental health among the youth as well as foster character development, social cohesion, and economic growth.

Speaking after the signing of the MoU, the Kericho County Governor Dr. Eric Mutai said, that the partnership with the GNNSJ would also promote the protection of the environment by developing modern functional car wash structures for the youth as well as the development of the decent working area for the mechanics in Kericho Town.

Dr. Mutai also revealed that the Guru Nanak community had also agreed to create a peace garden in the context of heritage conservation and peacebuilding at the Chelimo/Lipton tea area.

“We are glad that Guru Nanak well-wishers will also continue with beautification exercise within Kericho town to upgrade its outlook,” added Dr. MutaiThe Guru Nanak Sewak Jatha team led by Prof. Mohinder Singh Ahluwalia said they would also provide expertise to the county government on various sectors of mutual interest such as the development of values-led education and training.

“In the spirit of the harmonious relationship with the County we undertake to collaborate and exercise goodwill whilst executing the partnership projects and appreciating the projects as a vehicle for the social and economic development of the county,” said Prof. Mohinder
