Kisumu deputy governor Mathews Ochieng’ Owili on Thursday embarked on an assessment of projects being undertaken by the county government.

Owili began his development tour in Nyakach Sub County where he toured the ongoing water project at West Nyakach ward and the Osuoume road construction and the hospital being constructed at Pap Onditi where he noted that the developments would positively impact on the development of the sub county and greatly help the locals.

“We were at West Nyakach and we noted the ongoing works including those geared at ensuring convenient availability of clean water to the residents because the regime of governor Nyongo takes cognisance that access to clean water for domestic use is a major step towards warding off diseases hence less hospital visits.

We have also inspected the ongoing construction of Harambee Osuome road which is being constructed by the county government and whose works are nearly done.

Then we as well toured ongoing road construction of Michura Access road which has been a thorn in the flesh for residents because it is a new road just being opened and the residents have expressed much gratitude to the governor for opening it up.

It has so far reached Michura dispensary and the Kisumu County Executive Committee Member for Health has pledged that the road will officially be launched in August.

We also toured Pap Onditi and inspected the ongoing theater and incinerator construction in the town that’s now at 95 percent completion rate,” pointed Dr. Owili.

He noted that upgrading of medical services at Pap Onditi would be critical in availing the much needed surgery and accident response services in the accident prone area.

“This will be a game changer in medical intervention in Nyakach especially given that before, accidents victims could only be rushed to Kisumu for medical attention but the advent of the theatre here will not only be a huge relief to accident victims but also to expectant women. Finally, we are also giving a new lease of life to our local market that has been at the brink of collapse because we want our people to trade in dignity,” the DG noted.

Dr. Owili further assured all Kisumu residents that the county government would pitch tent in all sub counties in the County to track the progress of all the development initiatives rolled out by the county government to ensure they are implemented to completion.

The deputy governor was flanked by various CECs including Salmon Orimba, Beatrice Wadiaga, Marylyn Agwa and other leaders from the ODM party.

It’s the assurance by the government of Prof Nyong’o that development geared tours will not only be confined to Nyakach but we have mapped out visits in all the sub counties Uudung Nyando, Muhoroni, Kisumu East, West, Central and Seme.

Politics were however not relegated to the periphery with present ODM politicians reiterating their steadfast support for the party even as they warned those decamping to other parties that they would never be the elected in any post in the party again.

“We are speaking with one voice as the ODM party mandarins in Nyakach that even though ODM is not in power, we will not entertain defectors,” warned George Ikitge, a local ODM official.
