Lurambi Member of Parliament Titus Khamala has said he is willing to empower the youth who are seeking support to transform their lives.

He says he is ready to offer any kind of support to those seeking leadership positions in politics and those seeking to start income generating activities.

He however said that the empowerment programme is only possible if they form groups that can enable them to pool resources together.

Speaking in Kakamega, MP Khamala said those seeking political seats should not think that they will wait for the older legislators to exit stage before they vie for those positions.

He said if they want to be leaders then they must fight for their spaces and the time to do so is to take advantage of the current political party nominations.

“I want to urge Youth that in Life you have to fight for your space, for us to reach where we are now, we have been campaigners, we have been youth wingers in political parties, we fought for our space,” he noted.

He urged the youth not to be cowed and choosy on which political party to belong to but to try their luck where opportunities are available.

He noted that before the 2022 general election, some of his team joined the Orange Democratic Party (ODM), others remained in ANC while many others joined several political parties ending up nominated as Members of County Assembly of Kakamega.

The MP assured the youth that he is available for consultation on how to successfully win various political seats drawing from his experience in politics where he has lost twice and won twice as a legislator.

“I have lost elections twice. I know how to lose, I have won twice so I know how to win, I have been a councilor before. So I have been around, I am the right person to talk to you and help you,” he added.

He regretted that women and men are approaching him seeking his guidance but that youth are shying away despite his welcoming nature and only complain through the online platforms.

The MP also said he will support those who want to benefit from tenders so that they can supply goods and services and earn some income.

“I am developing an Agenda for the youth for instance now we have Climate Change Mitigation measures where youth can start projects like tree planting through support from the National Government Constituency Development Fund(NG-CDF),” he added.
