A man appeared before a Kabarnet court today charged with raping a woman.Evans Kibor was accused that on March 8, 2024 at about 12 pm in Kasaka sub-location in Baringo North sub-county within Baringo County, he intentionally and unlawfully raped VCJ, a female adult.
The accused also faced an alternative charge of indecent act with an adult contrary to section 11 A of the Sexual Act No.3 of 2006.
When the charges were read to him before Senior Resident Magistrate (SRM) Edwin Mulochi, the accused, charged with rape contrary to section 3 (1) (b) as read with section 3 (3) of the Sexual Offences Act No.3 of 2006, pleaded not guilty.
He claimed that the charge was a false accusation levelled against him but the Prosecution Counsel Vivian Ratemo who presented a duly filled P3 and treatment notes said that they would call five witnesses to testify against the accused.
SRM Mulochi released the accused on personal bond of Sh200,000 with surety of same amount.
The Magistrate ordered the case to be mentioned on April 6 and slated hearing for May 16.
