Former Ministry Transport Principle Secretary, Irungu Nyakera has explained some of his observations and mistakes ODM Leader Raila Odinga made during his meeting with the Mount Kenya Foundation.
Nyakera who described himself as a fence sitter said that Raila’s meeting was not inclusive and open.
He criticized the planners of the event to not have allowed the supporters or attendees to ask questions. Further, he observed that his advisers assumed that the attendees would automatically accept the endorsement of the ODM leader.
According to the former PS, the youths were not well represented in the list of speakers and only one woman was given time to speak.
In his opinion ,Nyakera said that the youths do not relate to Raila’s message on the struggle for independence and freedom activists who delivered Kenya from colonialism.
“Raila said youth lack experience and that’s why they should remain patient as the elders speak to them. Youth want someone to speak to their current struggles of joblessness and hopelessness.
“Raila’s message was dry and won’t work for the majority of the youth. Youth aren’t interested in what happened to Jaramogi, Achieng Oneko and Kenyatta in 1948 and 1952,” the former Transport PS said.
The PS added that the people selling Raila in Mt Kenya do not wish him well and that they are not in touch with Wanjiku.
“Baba has now been demystified and looks electable even in Mt Kenya. I also think Baba is not a bad man. But the people selling him don’t mean well for him. They are not in touch with Wanjiku. He should sack them and find new advisers.” he advised .
