Mombasa County is set to roll out more than 941,000 treated mosquito nets to over 300,000 household as part of the nationwide anti – malaria initiative.
The Government has laid out a strategic plan to distribute over 15 million treated mosquito nets to more than 22 counties across the country.
Earlier on Saturday,Principal Secretary Mary Muthoni of the State Department for Public Health and Professional Standards, alongside the Global Fund Country Team led by Senior Fund Portfolio Manager Paul McCarrick, conducted oversight of the Mombasa Distribution posts.
The PS emphasized the importance of local leaders conducting community sensitization to ensure effective utilization of the nets in the fight against malaria. This project is funded by the Global Fund and USAID/PMI.
On Thursday, Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir Shariff flagged off lorries carrying nets to Kisauni, Mvita, Changamwe, Jomvu, Nyali and Likoni.
KEMSA is overseeing the distribution process from drop-off to post, and cooperation is requested at receiving posts to expedite the process.
