MP Caleb Amisi reveals plan by 100 Rift Valley, Mount Kenya MPs to replace Gachagua in 2027

An Azimio-allied Member of Parliament has sensationally claimed that there is a plot to replace Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua ahead of the 2027 general election.

The Saboti MP says the plot is already in place with at least 100 legislators in support.

According to the MP serving for a second term, the MPs opposed to DP Gachagua are from the Rift Valley and Mount Kenya region.

He further claimed, without giving evidence, that the legislators have been meeting for a while now to strategize on how they will ensure the current DP is not President William Ruto’s running mate in the upcoming general election.

Amisi claims the MPs are pushing for KIharu’s Ndindi Nyoro to take up the position. He went further to point out that those pushing for the new idea have the full backing of the Head of State.

“More than 100 mps from central and riftvalley meets frequently to plan for @NdindiNyoro as deputy president in 2027.They are sent by the president,” the ODM legislator said.

In addition, Amisi said after 2027, the next in line for the two highest offices is Transport and Infrastructure Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen.

The effect of the new plot, according to the Saboti MP, is that no current high-ranking Luhya politician will have a chance to occupy the two top offices – at least in the next 20 years.

“ By that time, MM and Wetangula will be 107 years old, and still waiting to be given presidency on a silver platter. These guys must exit the stage honourably. A time for embarrassing them is fast approaching. Kenya needs a renaissance!” he noted.

Caleb Amisi’s sentiments comes at a time when DP Gachagua is facing rebellion amongst leaders within his own Mount Kenya region.

The vote-rich region is currently split into two factions – one supporting the DP and the other siding with the President.

Most politicians considered elderly and experienced have sided with the second in command while the young – led by Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichungwa are on the president’s side.
