Embakasi Central MP Mejja Donk has recently made bold statements amidst political tensions surrounding Deputy President William Ruto.
During a public address in Murang’a, Donk asserted that allies of Deputy President Ruto are prepared to confront any impeachment attempts initiated against him.
‘’We are telling them, bring it on, we will deal with it,’’ the MP said.
He emphasized their readiness to resist pressure from MPs allegedly working to undermine the Dp.
At a fundraising event hosted by MP Mary Wa Maua, Donk criticized certain leaders from Northern Kenya who have threatened to push for the removal of Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga, accusing them of inconsistency in their political stances.
Donk highlighted what he perceived as a lack of condemnation towards those who have attacked efforts by Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga to foster unity within the Mount Kenya region.
Additionally, he urged critics who accuse them of tribalism to similarly address these Northern Kenya leaders.
‘’We want those claiming that we are preaching tribalism to also rebuke the Northern Kenya leaders,’’ he said.
In his speech, Donk also took aim at a senior state officer, suggesting that the officer has aspirations to become Deputy President in 2027 and cautioned against prematurely seeking the position.
“There are some ministers traversing this area and their work is absolute abuses and insults, I am sending a message to those cabinet secretaries, that even if you have an appetite for the DP office, it is not vacant at the moment,’’ he said.
The MP asked Gachagua to bring up the matter of being disrespected at the Cabinet when they meet next saying it was unfortunate that juniours are undermining their boss.
‘When you go to the cabinet please talk and address this issue, those who want that seat, let them wait for 2027 and look for those whom they can deputise,” he said.
Northern Kenya leaders responded to Donk’s remarks, expressing discontent over what they viewed as unwarranted attacks and accusations against them.
They deemed the allegations leveled by Donk in the press as reckless and inappropriate, suggesting that such matters should be handled within the appropriate parliamentary committees.
The ongoing political discourse underscores heightened tensions within Kenya’s political landscape, particularly within the ruling coalition.
The remarks by Donk and the subsequent reactions from Northern Kenya leaders reflect broader divisions and power struggles within the political elite.
These tensions are further complicated by upcoming elections and maneuvering for key political positions.
Observers note that Deputy President Ruto’s political base remains a focal point in Kenya’s evolving political dynamics.
The statements by Donk illustrate a firm stance among Ruto’s allies against perceived threats to his leadership, while also signaling a defensive posture against critics and potential adversaries.
Political analysts anticipate that such exchanges will continue to shape public discourse and influence political alignments as the country heads towards the next electoral cycle.
The controversy surrounding Governor Kahiga and the responses from Northern Kenya leaders highlight the complex interplay of regional dynamics and national politics.
As the situation unfolds, stakeholders across Kenya are closely monitoring developments, anticipating further political maneuvers and strategic alignments within the ruling coalition and opposition parties alike.
The outcome of these dynamics will likely impact Kenya’s political landscape in the coming months, setting the stage for a highly contested electoral period
