Uganda has a new Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), in the frame of General Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
Muhoozi has been appointed by his father, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
He replaces General Wilson Mbasu Mbadi who was appointed Minister of State for Trade, in the new cabinet reshuffle announced on Thursday evening, in the East Africa nation.
Before the appointment, General Muhoozi has been serving as his father’s senior presidential advisor in charge of special operations.
President Museveni named Lt Gen Samuel Okiding as the deputy CDF. He replaces Gen Peter Elwelu whom the President named as one of his senior advisors.
The new CDF is claimed to be positioning himself to succeed his father, who has been Uganda’s president since 1986.
