Mutahi Ngunyi links politics to ongoing doctor’s strike

Controversial political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi has sensationally claimed that the ongoing doctors’ strike has a political hand.

Members of the Kenya Medical Practitioners Pharmacists and Dentist Union (KMPDU) have been on strike for over a week now demanding for full Implementation of a CBA.

The CBA was signed during President Uhuru Kenyatta era.

While the doctors peg their strike on the non-implementation of the CBA, Ngunyi it has nothing to do with it.

According to Mutahi Ngunyi, the doctors cannot be as organised as they have been.

“This #DoctorsStrikeKE has a POLITICAL mastermind. Doctors Political IQ is below the level of Stupid. WHY?These doctors performed BRAIN SURGERY on the wrong patient. Then they cut off the leg of a wrong GUY,” he said in part of the post on X.

“Can these quacks be this ORGANISED? Zero. Who is the SPONSOR? Iko Kitu!” he added.

Among the demand from doctors is the posting of medical interns.

The issue of contention has however been on the salary aspect of the interns.

The CBA set a lucrative salary of up to Ksh200 per month which Health CS Susan Wafula has said was a mistake.

However, Lagdera MP Farah Maalim has defended the medical interns.

He said they deserve better renumeration based on their quality of service in hospitals.

“Nobody should tamper with the training or remuneration of Intern Doctors in our country. We have since independence produced the best Doctors in all English medium countries at that level. When our Medical Officers go to practice in all Commonwealth Countries & the US they are celebrated,” Maalim said.

“Our Interns run effectively/efficiently big hospitals. They perform flawlessly certain surgical procedures that are only performed by specialists in the developed world. Let’s take health services back to the National Government!!!” he added.
