The cocaine, DCI said on Sunday, had been concealed in three teddy bears.

Police arrested the trio at their house in New Donholm area, Nairobi.

The police raided the house following intelligence information. The seized cocaine has been at KSh7.5 million.

“Acting on intelligence information, Sharon Debra Achieng’, 25, Leon Ochieng’, 28 and Ronald Onyango, 25 were intercepted yesterday by a team of ANU & OSU crime busters with a black suitcase, whose contents were a few clothes, toiletries and three teddy bears,” DCI said in part of their statement.

“On ripping the teddy bears open, 298 pellets of the nose candy weighing about 6.8kg estimated at Sh27.5 million in street value were discovered,” it added.

Also found in possession of the suspects were several air tickets for different destinations in the name of the female suspect.

The suspects are now expected to be arraigned in court to face charges of being on possession of illegal drugs. This is even as the DCI thanked members of the public for sharing information that had helped arrest drug traffickers.

The agency also said it only arrests those involved in fake deals.

“The DCI thanks the members of the public who continue to #FichuakwaDCI by sharing actionable information, and warns traffickers that their misplaced efforts will only earn them tickets to courtrooms and correctional facilities,” said the agency.

“Note: DCI haina shida na deals legit!” it added.Police have in the recent weeks tightened the noose on drug traffickers.
