The County Government of Bungoma and Walkabout Foundation have donated 120 wheelchairs to individuals with disabilities in the area.
Governor Kenneth Lusaka presented wheelchairs to beneficiaries and expressed gratitude to Walkabout Foundation for their gesture, stating it would significantly improve their mobility.
During an event in Bungoma, he urged beneficiaries to use wheelchairs for their own benefit, stating each chair was customized to suit different needs.
Stating that despite the challenge of physical disability each of the beneficiaries was gifted differently and had the ability for self-empowerment and asked them to utilize their talents to improve on their standards of living.
Speaking during the event the director of Walkabout foundation Carol Mureithi said the organization donated 100 wheelchairs to PWDs in Bungoma last year in phase one of the program.
Thus, she asked the beneficiaries to engage in income generating activities in as much as they can to be more self-reliant.
