Manchester city manager Pep Guardiola has been named the 2023/24 Barclays Manager of the Season for the fifth time.
Guardiola led the Cityzens to a historic campaign winning four straight Premier league titles and six in seven years.
Guardiola wins the award for a fifth time, having also claimed it in four of his five previous title-winning campaigns, in 2017/18, 2018/19, 2020/21 and 2022/23.
The Spanish International acknowledged his fellow nominees for pushing him to the Sucess expressing his determination to win the award again in the 2024/24 season.
“I want to share it, yes, oh yes! Especially with Mikel for the incredible job he has done until the last game, bringing us to our limits,” said Guardiola.
“Of course, for Jurgen, for the unforgettable battles for many, many years. And Unai Emery, making something unbelievable again to bring Aston Villa to the Champions League.
“And Andoni Iraola, with Bournemouth, being his first season in the Premier League, doing what he has done, coming back from the tough start of the season.
“It is an honour to be alongside all of them and to win this trophy. We will defend this award as best as possible in the future.” He added
“I’m going to defend this award next season!” Guardiola said.
Former Manchester united manager Sir Alex Ferguson is the only manager who has won it on more occasions than Guardiola with 11 awards while Jose Mourinho and Arsene Wenger have both bagged it three times Jurgen Klopp winning twice.
Manchester City’s quality has been undoubtedly impressive this season as they also look to end their campaign by defending the FA Cup in a Final against Manchester United on Saturday.
