Raila leaves the Country for the UK

Opposition leader Raila Odinga has left the country for the United Kingdom on Thursday morning where he is expected to deliver a Keynote adress at the Oxford University under special invitation.

A statement from his spokesperson Dennis Onyango noted that the former Premier was invited by the Oxford Africa Society where he is expected to discuss about “Africa’s trajectory of resilience and renewal”.

Amongst other issues, Odinga will also be offering insights from his extensive experience in public service, Democracy, governance and advocacy.

“Raila Odinga’s address will feature key themes like political stability, economical stability, equality and democracy .”noted Onyango .

Raila Odinga will also highlight stories of resilience featuring examples of renewal from the across the African continent while highlighting continental challenges and opportunities.

In his adress, the opposition leader will also project his bid for Chairperson at African Union Commission including his agenda for the collective unionship, mutual development and democracy for the continent.

Raila’s visit to the UK is meant to strengthen ties between the British government and the Kenya where he will engage senior UK government officials to adress the political situation in the country while promoting Kenya’s foreign interest in the international stage.

Raila will later engage the UK Business community and Kenyans living in the UK. Kenya is among UK’s largest trading partner in East Africa.

The United Kingdom is also one of the largest foreign investors in the country with investments in various sectors including telecommunications, manufacturing and processing services.

Raila was accompanied this by other leaders including Azimio Spokesperson Prof. Makau Mutua, Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and Nyando MP Jared Okello.
