President William Ruto on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, received credentials from several newly posted envoys.
The brief event was held at State House Nairobi.
In an update on his social media pages, the Head of State said he received credentials from four ambassadors and one high commissioner.
Among those whose credentials were received include Tunisian ambassador to Kenya Anouar Ben Youssef and his Argentine counterpart Luis Alejandro Levit.
Other ambassadors were from Chile and Peru.
Ruto also received the credentials from the High Commissioner of Jamaica Joan Thomas Edwards.
“Received credentials from new ambassadors and a high commissioner at State House, Nairobi. They were Ambassadors Anouar Ben Youssef (Tunisia), Patricio Alberto Aguirre Vacchieri (Chile), Luis Alejandro Levit (Argentina) and Romy Sonia Tincopa Grados (Peru),” the President said in part of his update.
“Others were Sabit Subasic, Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Ambassador Joan Thomas Edwards, High Commissioner of Jamaica,” he added.
In addition, the Head of State said Kenya remains committed to enhancing its ties with nations across the globe that have shared intrests.
He said the country is also keen to expand markets for its products and broaden economic opportunities for the youth.
“Kenya is committed to enhancing ties with nations with shared interests. We are particularly keen on attracting new and quality investments, expanding lucrative markets for our products and broadening economic opportunities for our youth,” the President said.
It is estimated that there are 95 embassies/high commissions in Nairobi, Kenya, and 3 consulates in Mombasa, Kenya.
Additionally, there are 56 Foreign Embassies and 36 Consulates located in the territory of Kenya.
Generally, the Kenyan government has political and diplomatic ties with among others China, India, Pakistan, Russia, United Arab Emirates, and Brazil.
It also maintains relations with Western countries, particularly the United Kingdom.
On the other hand, Kenya has a total of 55 embassies and high commissions abroad, as well as 32 consulates and two other representations.
