Bumula Member of Parliament (MP) Jack Wanami Wamboka has seemingly accused President William Ruto’s administration of ‘deliberately selling fake fertiliser’ to farmers in the middle of a planting season.

Wamboka said since Ruto succeeded Uhuru Kenyatta in September, 2022, allegations of fake commodities circulating in the market have been commonplace.

“Farmers are now being sold fake fertilisers. Shame on this government. This has been a trend, there was fake sugar, fake vegetable oil and now fake fertiliser,” said the first term legislature.

Wamboka was elected on the DAP-K party ticket in 2022, making him the only opposition MP in Bungoma county.

He said the fake fertiliser scam is at the heart of his bid to have Agriculture Cabinet Secretary (CS) Franklin Mithika Linturi impeached.

The MP said he will continue fighting for Kenyans from the opposition corner, pouring cold water on the possibility of crossing over to the government side.

“When I was elected, I said I will stand with the people. I will remain in Azimio until the electorate say otherwise.”

He spoke in Khasoko ward on Tuesday, where he handed  over 40 dairy cows to widows in the area, through his ‘Wamboka and Widows’ initiative.

The program is about investing in widows economic empowerment, to eradicate poverty, gender inequality, and ensure inclusive economic growth.

The event was attended by among others, Saboti MP Caleb Amisi and Githunguri’s Gathoni Wa Muchomba.

Amisi challenged National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula and Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi to exit from the Western region’s top leadership scene, claiming that they have overstayed their welcome.

“We want the new generation to take over leadership. Even in Rift Valley, Moi is no longer the leader. Ruto took over by force, in Nyanza Raila took over by force. In Central, leadership has exchanged hands numerous times. Why is it that in Western we have remained with two people who are dragging us behind for so lon?”

“We want to see a luhya President in our lifetime. If you can’t be President, give us space. If Wetang’ula you can remove William Ruto in 2027 I will support you. If Mudavadi you can remove William Ruto in 2027 I will support you. If you can’t, in 2032 don’t try to disturb us.”
